Calgary Spirit Hits the West Coast at the Annual Esquimalt Barn Burner
ESQUIMALT, BC (May 23, 2026) — High-country hospitality met naval tradition this weekend at the annual HMCS Calgary Barn Burner, hosted at the HMCS Venture Gunroom. The evening celebrated the enduring community bond between the city of Calgary and the crew of its namesake frigate. Calgary Salutes is chaired by Councillor DJ Kelly (Ward 4) and reports to Council through the Community Development Committee. Each subcommittee carries a distinct mandate within the committee's coordinating work.

Friends of HMCS Calgary Subcommittee

Promotes public knowledge of HMCS Calgary, sustains ties between CAF personnel and Calgarians, and hosts recognition events including Barn Burner programs.
