Legal basis

Calgary Salutes is established by Bylaw 37M2025, passed June 24, 2025, which replaced Bylaw 36M2023.

Leadership

Chair and membership

The committee is chaired by Councillor DJ Kelly (Ward 4), appointed October 29, 2025. Councillor Landon Johnston serves as the second Council member.

Structure

One body, three subcommittees

Calgary Salutes is organized as a Coordinating Committee with three subcommittees:

  • Friends of HMCS Calgary Subcommittee
  • Heritage and History Subcommittee
  • Community Engagement Subcommittee

Reporting and meetings

The committee reports annually to Council through the Community Development Committee. It meets at least three times per year.
